My year in numbers
Some statistics of my trip:
- Travelling time: 1 year
- Number of visited countries: 18
- Number of borders crossed: 28
- Number of flights: 12
- Number of bus rides: I must be really bored to count them 😉
Where did I sleep? Well, during my travels I spent
- 297 nights in Hostels/Hotels/Guesthouses/Homestays (207 of which have been in dormitories)
- 23 nights in overnight buses
- 4 nights on a ship and 1 night on a plane
- 12 nights in tents or huts while trekking
- 23 nights at houses of friends
- 5 nights Couchsurfing
What did I do during that time?
- Number of books I read: 44 (A good way to spend your time in buses!)
- Number of different nationalities I came across: 50+

- Longest journeys:
- Puerto Montt – Puerto Natales (Chile) by ship: 96 hours
- Luang Prabang (Laos) – Hanoi (Vietnam) by bus: 36 hours
- El Calafate – Bariloche (Argentina) by bus: 28 hours
- Countries in which I spent the most time:
- Chile: 59 nights
- Peru: 42 nights
- New Zealand: 31 nights
- Countries in which I spent the least time:
- Brazil and Uruguay: 5 nights
- Laos: 7 nights
- Places I spent the most time in :
- Santiago de Chile: 21 nights on 5 visits
- La Paz: 12 nights on 2 visits
Money:
- Most expensive country: New Zealand
- Cheapest country: Hard to say, but probably either Bolivia or Thailand
- Highest amount spent for a night: ~25 $ in New Zealand
- Least amount spent for a night: ~3$ in various locations
And last but not least:
- Highest Number of coincidental meetings:
